"If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
"Whoever is of God hears the words of God."
Huh. That's a thought. If we want to do what God legitimately wants us to do, we should read the words that he wrote for us that tell us how to live life. Okay. That makes sense.
It really is that simple. If we seek the words of God, we come to know him. And when we know him, we find that he has mapped out a good journey for us because he is our Creator. And in reading about this journey, his words will come back to us as answers.
Sometimes this journey is difficult; it will test us. That does not make it any less good. Abraham heeded the words of God and followed through with trekking up a mountain to sacrifice his son Isaac. God saw this faithfulness. God saw that Abraham sought to please God above all else, and so he kept Isaac alive. While the journey for Abraham was dark in a moment, God rewarded him with mercy and an inheritance for eternity. Let us rejoice in that same inheritance that is waiting for us. Let us remind ourselves of that inheritance when our journey is dreary, and let us not fall by the wayside because we neglected to read the truth of God. Stick to the Bible. Read the blueprint. Pray for a fervent heart that only delights in the truth of the Creator.
