I like to sing and write, and even though I am not gifted with a lot of free time in this season of life, I have written a variety of songs over the years. Most of them are rooted in big questions, sentiments or changes in life and how I have responded in faith (or lack thereof).
Hopefully these songs will encourage you in your walk with the Creator.

GENESIS
This song was written as my summary and theme for the reading of the book of Genesis.

Verse 1
You said, Let Us make man
Let us draw near to him
Let us breathe life within
Verse 2
And I ran, fled to my sin
Yet You called me again
Let Your spirit press in
Chorus
You said "It is good"
And I believe it's true
That in my deepest sin
Your words remain the same
You're faithful till the end
Though I'm no perfect man
I stand in grace and truth
And hunger for Your name
Verse 3
Oh come, Spirit linger
Liven up these bones and
Let your roots grow deeper
Verse 4
Alone, You're Creator
No one gives me life
Like You do in all Your splendor
Bridge
With Your breath in our lungs
We rise up
Rise up to You
In Your truth we overcome
We rise up
Rise up to You
You said, Let Us make man
Let us draw near to him
Let us breathe life within

My Story (as told by 75 starting lines and titles from The Baptist Hymnal)
This is My Story as told by 75 starting lines and titles from the Baptist Hymnal
I know whom I have believed. (344). The Wonderful, wonderful Jesus. (432)
He's the grandest theme ((479), the great physician (102), the lily of the valley (459), the solid rock (337), a majestic sweetness that sits enthroned 267).
And I will sing the wondrous story (53)That I've found a friend, O such a friend (423) and
He included me (170) in heavenly love abiding (204).
Here is my life(356): I was sinking deep in sin (462). Day by day and with each passing moment (222), my soul in sad exile (338), a pilgrim was I, wandering (228) and all my life long I had panted (345) for peace like a river (339). Years I spent in vanity and pride (166), down in the valley (226), standing on the promises (335) of themes that men have known (453). But in times like these (469) love is the theme (453) There's a wide ness (171) of the Father's love begotten (62) when upon life's billows (231) Jesus calls us over the tumult (367) and on a hill far away (430) my heart looks in faith (332) as the head that once was crowned (125) becomes a sacred head now wounded (105) . And down at the cross (454), down in the valley (226) nothing but the blood (158) set my soul afire (302) and out of my bondage, sorrow and night (178). The room at the cross (194) sent a great revival (271) like a river glorious (208) , and breathed on me the breath of God (317). And my soul, in sad exile (338) began walking in sunlight (472). Just when I needed him most (220), God, who stretched the spangled heavens (150), sent his son (448) for me (110), for the beauty of the earth (54), for sunshine in my soul (447). What a fellowship! What a joy divine! (254). There is sunshine in my soul today (447). There is a place of quiet rest (354). There's a song in the air (93), there's a sweet, sweet spirit (255). There's a wideness in God's mercy (171) and sinners Jesus will receive (167).
Why do I sing about Jesus? (432) Because in loving kindness Jesus came (426) and it is well with my soul (339). I am happy today. (169). I am his and he is mine (342). I know not what the future has (492) but I am satisfied with Jesus (455).
Jesus! What a friend for sinners (64), what a wonderful change in my life (487). Let all the world in every corner sing (24) of the father's begotten love 62).
Now I belong to Jesus. (477). I am his and he is mine( 342) and I am resolved (177) to sing the wondrous love of Jesus (491) and let the song go round the earth (306).
What a friend we have in Jesus! (403). He is all that thrills my soul. 434)

Whether I Turn
I wrote this song this past July when my husband and I were confronted with a big decision. We were considering moving from College Station to Terrell, Texas to minister to a new and growing church plant. We loved living in College Station, we loved our church, and we considered every one we knew in the area to be family. To think about leaving the people and the lives we grew there was not fun to think about, nor were we sure if it was right.
We prayed, talked, asked questions and finally came to the decision to move to Terrell. I had prayed for many years leading up the move for various things to take place in our lives, and even though we were not eager to leave College Station, God answered all those prayers of mine through this move. I prayed for over 3 years, and he answered in His timing.
While we were thinking through the decision, our church in College Station was hosting a Bible school for the kids and the theme verse was Isaiah 30:21. "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it." As Christians, we can easily get caught up in asking God for the answers to all our biggest questions and moves. We want to pinpoint the responsibility on Him almost as if we want to relinquish ourselves of the diligence and due respect to make good decisions. But I've come to think that God gives us the choice to make the answer for ourselves, to take a path and trust Him moving foreword, and whether we turn to the right or the left, he will see us through as we seek righteousness, as we seek Him. I mention David's psalms in the song as well, claiming that even the darkest times, we can choose to sit at the table of the Lord and enjoy what He's given us rather than sulk in uncertainty and fear.
The key: as long as we are deeply rooted in the Word of God - the present way that he communicates with us - we can make decisions that are bold, faithful and allow us to trust even more deeply in the Lord, regardless of whether we see everything ahead or not. Seek him, and he will see you through.

Whether I turn
To the right or the left
I won't be undone
For Your voice is the One
That's leading me on
And you ask me to walk in it
Oh, faithful One
Won't you come
Hear the cry of my heart
Be gracious to me
And when I've found
That the valley awaits
And darkness abounds
I will sit at Your table
And dwell in Your house
For you ask me to walk in it
Your Word is a light to my path
And a lamp to my feet
Oh surely You love me
